2016 Petit Verdot
Dark in color and bountiful in flavor with aromas of roasted fig, dark cherry, and a hint of black tea leaves. The palate displays bright and vibrant acidity with flavors of black olive tapenade, blackcurrants, and elegant oak notes.
100% estate grown
Our 2016 Petit Verdot comes from our Estate Vineyard in the Yakima Valley and the grapes are sourced from our Reserve tier blocks. We carefully select these blocks and crop them to smaller yields to obtain more ripeness and concentrated flavors. Harvested towards the end of October at optimal maturity the grapes were sent directly to small fermenters and cold-soaked for 48 hours before inoculating for alcoholic fermentation. Our extraction protocol was balanced between aerated pump-overs and gentle punch downs to extract the complex flavors from our Petit Verdot while maintaining tannin extraction and balance with the wine’s natural acidity. Fermented on the skins for 11 days, then sent to exclusive French Oak barrels for aging. The wine was aged in 25% new French oak and 75% 2 year old French oak for 19 months.
